MindLog: measuring mental development

What MindLog does

MindLog is a journal-like writing tool that invites students to consider and reflect upon issues and ideas that matter to them, while showing teachers how their thinking develops over time.

Students write about what matters to them

Throughout the year, students respond to open-ended prompts about friendship, fairness, conflicting views, technology, growing up, themes and ideas from coursework, and more. There are no right or wrong answers, and the ideas students express can be shared with peers to deepen reflection.

Teachers see how thinking evolves

MindLog gives teachers an ongoing window into how students are thinking and how their thinking evolves over time. It's not so much about what students know, it's more about how they understand it.

Healthy growth, vs. fragile growth

As educators know, students can reach similar scores by different routes. MindLog's dashboard can help teachers distinguish robust, healthy growth from fragile, memorization-driven growth, and giving them insight into who who needs what kind of support.

Meet Marcus, Sarah, and Liam

Three fictional fifth graders whose results are based on real student data.

The MindLog teacher dashboard showing a year of growth charts for three fifth graders, Marcus Vance, Sarah Jenkins, and Liam Zhang, each with a Structural Foundation Index and a count of peer comments.

A school year of growth for three students, as their teacher sees it in the MindLog dashboard.

Detail view for Marcus Vance: Lectical score 942, score fit 0.93, a narrow estimated true score range, and a green note reading Optimal density distribution.

Marcus: steady, well-integrated growth.

Detail view for Liam Zhang: Lectical score 968, score fit 0.9, a wider estimated true score range, and a yellow note reading Early indications of rote learning.

Liam: a higher score, with an early warning.

We'll be digging into the details in the webinar.

All of this and more, free for one year
